Australien har en af de h\u00f8jeste forekomster af tarmkr\u00e6ft i verden med 1 ud af 13 australiere, der udvikler sygdommen i deres levetid. Tarmkr\u00e6ft er Australiens tredje hyppigst diagnosticerede kr\u00e6ftsygdom og den n\u00e6sthyppigste d\u00f8ds\u00e5rsag. N\u00e5r de opdages tidligt, kan den fem\u00e5rige overlevelsesrate for tarmkr\u00e6ft v\u00e6re s\u00e5 h\u00f8j som 99 procent. Men selv f\u00f8r pandemien blev kun 46 procent af tarmkr\u00e6fttilf\u00e6ldene diagnosticeret i Australien p\u00e5 et tidligt tidspunkt.<\/p>\n

Det er nu mere sandsynligt, at patienter vil pr\u00e6sentere med mere fremskreden sygdom, kr\u00e6ve mere komplekse behandlinger og opleve d\u00e5rligere resultater. Planl\u00e6gning af post-COVID-19 koloskopi indhentning og l\u00f8bende kapacitet er p\u00e5tr\u00e6ngende n\u00f8dvendig for at sikre, at tarmkr\u00e6ft ikke bliver det glemte 'C' i den lange skygge af COVID-19."<\/p>\n
