De druk op spoedeisende hulpafdelingen wereldwijd neemt toe. Dit terwijl veel landen te maken hebben met een ongekende vraag naar gezondheidszorg, veroorzaakt door bezuinigingen en een steeds ouder wordende bevolking.<\/p>\n<p>In het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn de vertragingen deze winter sterk toegenomen. Analyse van\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/\">\n NHS Engeland\n<\/a>\nUit gegevens van de BBC over wachttijden blijkt dat \u00e9\u00e9n op de vijf pati\u00ebnten in december 2019 en januari 2020 meer dan vier uur moest wachten om gezien te worden nadat ze op de afdeling Spoedeisende Hulp waren aangekomen, terwijl ongeveer 25% van degenen die in het ziekenhuis werden opgenomen nadat ze op de afdeling Spoedeisende Hulp waren gezien \u2013 wachten op een trolley \u2013 in dezelfde periode vertragingen van meer dan vier uur ondervonden voordat er een bed kon worden gevonden.<\/p>\n<p>Spoedeisende hulpafdelingen in andere delen van de wereld kampen met vergelijkbare vertragingen en de uitbraak van het coronavirus zal de situatie waarschijnlijk niet verbeteren. Hoewel er extra geld wordt ge\u00efnvesteerd om de druk te verlichten en de extra toestroom van pati\u00ebnten met mogelijk coronavirus mogelijk te maken en wachttijden te verkorten, zal het waarschijnlijk tijd kosten om extra middelen in te zetten. Mobiel en modulair\n<a href=\"\/nl_nl\/our-facilities\/\">\n gezondheidszorg eenheden\n<\/a>\nkunnen snel worden ingezet en vormen een kosteneffectieve manier om tijdelijke capaciteit toe te voegen op momenten dat deze het hardst nodig is.
