Q-bital Healthcare Solutions joins forces with Klimate on carbon removal project and takes next step in its Net Zero journey

< Back to news
Read about our partnership with Klimate.co as part of our Net Zero journey

Q-bital Healthcare Solutions have taken a significant step in its journey towards becoming a Net Zero organisation by partnering with Danish carbon removal experts Klimate , who work alongside environmentally responsible companies such as Q-bital to help them achieve Net Zero and accelerate carbon removal technologies.

Q-bital is a leading global provider of flexible clinical infrastructure and services, delivering high quality, technically-advanced operating rooms, clinical facilities, endoscopy and diagnostic solutions at pace partnering with healthcare clients to increase capacity alongside improving efficiency and health outcomes.

Together with Klimate, Q-bital is building a portfolio of carbon removal projects to achieve their targets and support the environment. The portfolio will include projects such as direct air capture, deep storage bio-oil, ocean kelp and restorative tree-planting and these will be independently verified to ensure their integrity and effectiveness.

The investment in these carbon removal projects will play an essential role in helping Q-bital achieve its ambitions to become carbon neutral for scope 1 and 2 emissions in the coming years. This investment is a first step in a carbon removal program that takes responsibility for unavoidable emissions and will be accompanied by Vanguard’s work to reduce its carbon emission level by 61%. The work to achieve this goal will also include phasing in electric vehicles into its fleet, using renewable energy sources for all premises and increasing the level of waste recycling.

Globally, it is known that emissions need to fall by 45% by 2030 to keep temperatures below 1.5C compared to pre-industrial levels.

Chris Blackwell-Frost, Chief Executive Officer at Q-bital Healthcare Solutions, said:

[blockquote]I was very inspired by the Oxford Offsetting Principles, and Klimate’s portfolio approach to carbon removal allows us to align perfectly with these.[/blockquote]

As an organisation we are fully committed to being a provider of world class clinical facilities and services and one which operates in an environmentally considerate and responsible way. We are committed to being carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2023 and through our program of investment and partnership with Kllimate, we will achieve this goal.

As a global business, our goal is to do all we can to manage the environmental impact of our work and play our part in protecting the environment however we can. Part of our focus, naturally, is on reducing the absolute emissions of our operations, but it’s key that we also complement those actions with those which remove carbon too.

We are delighted to be working alongside Klimate to invest in a portfolio of carbon removal projects around the world and to do all we can to continually review and improve the actions we are taking to achieve our Net Zero goal by 2035.”

Erik Wihlborg, Chief Commercial Officer, Klimate, said:

[blockquote]We are pleased to be working alongside Q-bital Healthcare Solutions in helping them access high-quality, innovative, and verifiable carbon removal solutions which are aligned with science and which will help them achieve their environmental ambitions.[/blockquote]
